Congratulations to our Girls on the Run team from Lincoln for completing their final 5K of their 10 week season! This program teaches girls to be confident, joyful and healthy as well as how to be good friends, solve problems, and so much more! We are so proud of these young ladies for their dedication to this program and to the others on the team. Thanks the to Washington Community School District and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation for the grant that improved safety and accessibility for the bus lane at Lincoln Elementary! This project has improved our buildings safety for all students, staff, and community members that come into our building. With the new graded slope those that are wheelchair bound or have physical limitations can now access transportation out front without the risk of being hurt due to the curb. This change has also improved the aesthetics to the building, which was a benefit that we weren’t anticipating. Thanks to the WCRF for partnering with us to make this project possible.

Girls on the Run

Who: Girls in grades 3, 4, and 5

What: program that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experienced-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

When: Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00, September 6 - November 8, with a 5K in Cedar Rapids on November 10th with all other Girls on the Run of Eastern Iowa

Where: Lincoln Elementary

Why: to allow girls to make new friends, build their confidence, learn strategies to navigate life experiences, and celebrate all that makes them unique, as well as inspire an appreciation of fitness to build habits that last a lifetime

Other: Cost $150, but financial aid available with no proof required during registration - pay what you are able to.

Space is limited to 20 girls, so register right away!

Let Me Run

Who: Boys in grade 4th - 6th

What:  A curriculum based running program combining fun activities with exercise to inspire boys.

When:  Tuesday and Thursday  3:30 - 5:00 starting September 18th through November 1st, ending with a Let Me Run 5k on November 3rd at Kirkwood Campus in Cedar Rapids

Where: Lincoln Elementary

Why:  To help boys learn teamwork, build relationship skills, create friendships, grow emotionally, amplify their self—esteem, empower themselves and others, and live an active lifestyle.

Other: Cost $110. Donations have been received to reduce each entry fee, plus scholarships are available.

*Space is limited to 28 boys with registration opening August 20,2018. Online and paper registration will be available.

Girls on the Run

For the 2nd year, a self esteem boosting running program for 3rd-5th grade girls will be offered in Washington! Led by trained coaches Janet Conrad, Erin Martin, Teri Hartzler, and Michelle Driscoll, Girls on the Run will meet at Lincoln Elementary on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00, beginning September 6th. The season will end on November 10th with a 5K event in the Cedar Rapids area. Watch for more registration information in August and scholarships will be available to any in need!

 

 

Let Me Run

For the first time, a running program for 4th-6th grade boys will be offered in Washington! Led by Carrie Rich, Melanie Rothe and other trained coaches, Let Me Run will meet at Lincoln Elementary on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., beginning September 18th. The season will end on November 3rd or 4th with a 5k Let Me Run event in Cedar Rapids. Be on the lookout for registration at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.

 
Camp Invention PDF Print E-mail

Camp Invention is coming to Lincoln Elementary for the 8th year the week of June 4-8 from 9AM - 3PM. Why not keep kids learning with exciting STEM activities for one more week? Kids that will enter K-6 next school year can register for a week of hands-on learning and fun. This year kids will explore self-driving cars, design future smart homes, and build and personalize robotic dogs to bring home! To register your child go to www.campinvention.org. There are only a few spots still available, so don't delay in registrations! Contact me with questions!
