Incident At Lincoln Elementary PDF Print E-mail

Good afternoon parents,

I'm writing today to let you know of an unusual incident that happened this afternoon.

While students were on an outdoor walking path during afternoon PE two unidentified adults who were walking in the street on the north side of Lincoln School asked the students if they wanted candy.  The students said no and ran immediately to the teacher outside and reported the incident. Our staff followed our protocols and immediately contacted the police department and shared a description of the individuals along with images we were able to pull off of our cameras.

These individuals did not harm or threaten our students, but we take any potential threat to our students or staff very seriously. We're communicating today's event to you to ensure you are aware of what happened as well.

The police continue to follow up on today's event, and we have requested extra patrol around the buildings.  Additionally, we will be reviewing our safety precautions with students and will remind them to walk in groups or pairs rather than alone when walking to and from school and to be alert to what is going on around them. We encourage you to reinforce these messages with your children and ask them to take the same precautions during non-school hours and on weekends.

We share your desire to keep all children safe, and we will keep you informed of any new developments.

Sincerely,

William Stone

Superintendent
